Partner Organizations

Action Nepal closely works in a team collaborating with government organizations, media, civil society, and forums for consumer rights, medical doctors, NGOs, public health departments, colleges, schools, and other institutions for tobacco control in Nepal. Partner organizations are the core strengths of our institution. Particularly, we collaborate with the following key stakeholders: 

  • Action Nepal works with and supports the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in the comprehensive implementation and enforcement of tobacco control laws, including complete TAPS and sales ban and introduction of Plain Packaging Policy in Nepal. 
  • Action Nepal works with the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Finance (MoF), and National Planning Commission (NPC) to generate the urgency of raising taxes as recommended by WHO and World Bank. 
  • Action Nepal partners with Bharatpur Metropolitan City for effective compliance with smoke-free laws and for creating and sustaining Bharatpur as a smoke-free city. 
  • Action Nepal collaborates with the Government of Nepal, the National Health Education, Information, and Communication Center (NHEICC), and Health Journalist Forum Nepal (HJFN) to conduct multi-sectoral workshops and programs at national and subnational levels to sensitize key stakeholders for the effective implementation of tobacco control laws and policies. 
  • Action Nepal coordinates with Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Bhaktapur Municipality, Pokhara Metropolitan City, Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Dhangadi Sub-Metropolitan City in institutionalizing tobacco control to ensure the effective implementation of tobacco control laws and regulations.
  • Action Nepal works with the Prime Minister’s Office, Ministry of Home Affairs, and Ministry of Law and Justice to position the legal framework in line with WHO best-buys.
  • Media, Civil society, and Professional Organizations to partner in preventing and exposing the tobacco industry’s interference and advancing comprehensive tobacco control laws and policies in Nepal.
